River Bus

One legacy of the 2012 Olympics was a new push to develop river travel as part of London's overall public transportation system. The service, operated by Thames Clippers, now stops at 10 piers between London Eye/Waterloo and Greenwich, with peak-time extensions to Putney in the west and Woolwich Arsenal in the east. The Waterloo–Woolwich commuter service runs 6:30 am–11 pm on weekdays, 9:30 am–midnight on weekends (peak-time frequency: every 20 minutes). Tickets are £7.50, with a one-third discount for Travelcard holders and a 15% discount for Oyster card holders. When there are events at the O2 (North Greenwich Arena), a half-hourly express service runs to and from Waterloo starting three hours before the event. Thames Clippers also operate the special Tate to Tate Boat, a 15-minute trip between Tate Modern and Tate Britain that costs £7.50. Boats run every 40 minutes, usually 10–4:30 on weekdays and 9–7 on weekends. A River Roamer ticket (£17.35 per day) offers unlimited river travel after 9 am.
